Zambia

We took the Victoria Falls Bridge across the Zambezi River to enter Zambia. It was a nice opportunity to see the falls from the Zambian site as well.

We are excited by the prospect of a new country to explore!

Immediately after the border, we found a lovely campsite near the town of Livingstone. Within minutes, a troop of vervet monkeys came to check us out. They climbed on our car and sat in the tree observing us. They are beautiful animals but can also be a nuisance. You can not leave anything edible or small outside as they will snatch it and take it into the trees.

John found a wine named Culemborg and when that is the city you were born in, taking home a merlot was a no-brainer. Cheers to Culemborg!

The range of wines Culemborg was named in honour of Jan van Riebeeck, who was born in the Dutch town of Culemborg in 1619. Great men came from that little city ;)

We slowly made our way to Lusaka, the capitol of Zambia.

We found a small B&B and campsite at the edge of town, run by a Dutch couple. We used a few days to get our visa for Uganda in order, an online ordeal, and to stock up on food and necessities knowing that we soon will enter one of the poorest regions of the world.

The children enjoyed the pets of the B&B. Myron and Punky the parrot were inseparable and Raija and the dogs were friends immediately.
