On our way to Windhoek, we spent some time near the Von Bach Dam. It was a beautiful spot but it was very very warm. The best thing to do was read a book, create some art, and do nothing!
We arrived in Windhoek and did some shopping in a big mall. It was nice to find designated parking for our truck and to be able to do some decent grocery shopping.
We met up with Sylvia and Friedwart and were able to stay at the same Airbnb as them. It was lovely to be together again and we spent some real quality time together.
Our truck had a flat tire, we had to get it repaired. A metal pin was found in the tire and it was fixed by two service men. It took them about half an hour... it cost us €6.50!
A hinge of my laptop randomly snapped and caused my whole laptop to crash. I was super frustrated. I finally had power and an internet connection and we were trying to get some important administration done.... Luckily I had a backup of everything on an external hard drive and Myron had a laptop too...
(I contacted my tech-insurance and they told me I could bring my laptop to a repair shop in Windhoek. They would have to inspect it and write a report on the damage, typed on business paper... I don't think anyone of the insurance company had ever been in Windhoek...
I asked the insurance company what would happen next. They said, they would then take 3-5 business days to determine what the verdict would be, repair or replace. Then I could bring it back to that repair shop to get it repaired or find myself a new laptop.
We had to leave Namibia a few days later, this insurance plan was not made for travellers like me... my broken laptop has been travelling with us ever since.
From then on, Myron and I had to share his laptop...
As soon as we are back in Canada I will go straight to Best Buy and get it exchanged.)
