May 9 & 10 we spent exploring Paris.

We had an amazing time in this beautiful city. The weather could not have been any better and it was not packed with tourists just yet.

We took the scooter for Raija, which was such a good idea. Without noticing it, we walked a lot during these two days.

Below an impression of our days.

A visit to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica was high on our wishlist.

Both days we took the metro to go around the city. The square in front of Centre Pompidou was a great place for chasing pigeons and eating ice cream! The city is full of cool art and old buildings (here the Saint-Jacques Tower)

John and I have been multiple times in Paris before this visit. One of the highlights always was the Notre Dame.... This time around, the Notre Dame looked sad and the atmosphere around the building was somber. In April of 2019, while undergoing restorations and renovations, the roof caught on fire and the cathedral sustained severe damage. Reconstruction has begun, but it is still a sad sight.

Day two, we spent mainly around the Louvre Museum, the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, the Tuileries Gardens, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Champs-Élysées.

We finished our two days with a visit to the Eiffel Tower! (Photo credit to Myron)

The view was amazing and we enjoyed watching all the sights we had seen, from above.

And Myron being Myron, he had to do a few Eiffel Tower pull-ups ;)
