Most Northern


During the final stretch to the North Cape, the landscape changed dramatically. We frequently encountered reindeer, which obviously was exciting for all of us.


The steep cliff of the North Cape is located at 71°10′21″N 25°47′04″E. It is almost the most northern point in Europe, only the nearby Knivskjellodden Cape extends 1,450 m further north. The North Cape is more accessible and still very impressively north, only 2,102.3 km from the North Pole!


When we arrived, the whole Cape was covered in clouds. We literally could not see where exactly we parked our campervan. But when the clouds dissipated, we realized we had picked the best spot of the whole parking lot! We looked straight out onto the Barents Sea! It was windy, wet and cold, but we did take our first pictures.


The next morning we could not believe our eyes; the sky was blue, the wind had died down, and the sun was warm. We had the most amazing day walking around and visiting the Visitor's Centre. We for sure were not the only ones, although I always try to take pictures that look like we are the only people in the world.


THIS is why we drove all the way up to the North Cape, to see the midnight sun!

We were so lucky to have such a splendid day, as this night (July 29) was the last chance of the year to see a full midnight sun without it touching the horizon. Around 0:20am, we witnessed, together with hundreds of others, the lowest point of the sun.

There was such a positive vibe the whole evening; people gathered, new friendships were made, and we all enjoyed this magical moment.


We did it! The dream we had to drive to the North Cape and witness the midnight sun has become a reality. We are so happy to be downright adventurous!


The drive south to Finland has begun. There was not much traffic on the road, although...
